Governing data handling across all UAIE platforms.

1. Scope and overview

This Privacy Policy applies to every product in the UAIE™ — Universal Adaptive Interface Engine product family, published by Fiza Pathan Publishing (OPC) Private Limited, Mumbai, bearing CIN U22200MH2016OPC280629. It covers:

• UAIE Chrome Extension, available through the Chrome Web Store;
• UAIE Microsoft Edge Extension, available through the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store;
• UAIE Firefox Add-on, available through Mozilla AMO;
• UAIE native Android application, available through the Amazon Appstore and, from release, the Google Play Store;
• UAIE Microsoft Word Add-in, self-hosted pending submission to Microsoft AppSource;
• UAIE WordPress integration, installed on the teaching portfolio at fizapathansteachingportfolioforpgcite.com.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the websites or services of third parties, including the app stores listed above, each of which is governed by its own privacy policy to which the user is separately subject.

2. No data collection

UAIE, in every one of its platform manifestations, does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data of any kind. Specifically:

• UAIE does not collect the user’s name, email address, telephone number, or any other identifying information.
• UAIE does not track the user’s browsing activity, the websites the user visits, the documents the user opens, or the applications the user uses.
• UAIE does not send any data to servers operated by Fiza Pathan or Fiza Pathan Publishing (OPC) Private Limited, save in the specific case of the optional Tier II Bring-Your-Own-API-Key mode described in Section 4 below, in which the user’s own content is transmitted by the user’s own API key to the user’s own nominated third-party inference provider, without any involvement of the publisher.
• UAIE does not use analytics services, advertising trackers, fingerprinting, beacons, or telemetry of any kind.
• UAIE does not require the user to create an account, to register, or to log in.
• UAIE does not require an API key of any kind for its core features — Text-to-Speech, Grade 2 UEB Braille download, Plain Language at levels L1 and L2, Multiple Intelligences at levels L1 and L2, Reading Companion, Cognitive Load Indicator, Sign Language Lookup, and all Visual Adjustments.

3. Local storage only

UAIE stores the user’s preferences entirely on the user’s own device. The exact storage mechanism depends on the platform and is described below. In every case, the stored data remains on the user’s device and is never transmitted to any server operated by the publisher.

• Browser extensions (Chrome, Edge, Firefox): the browser’s chrome.storage.local or browser.storage.local API.
• Native Android application (Amazon Appstore, Google Play): Android SharedPreferences, stored in the application’s private sandbox.
• Microsoft Word Add-in: the Office.js Office.context.document.settings facility, scoped to the active document.
• WordPress integration: the browser’s standard localStorage, scoped to the portfolio’s domain.

The data so stored consists only of the user’s chosen settings — for example, preferred interface language, Text-to-Speech accent and voice, Dyslexia Mode toggle, Reading Ruler setting, Multiple Intelligences selection, and the like. No content, no document text, and no browsing record is stored.

4. Optional Tier II · Bring-Your-Own-API-Key

If the user chooses to use the advanced Plain Language features at levels L3 to L6, or the higher levels of the Multiple Intelligences reformatter, the user may optionally enter an Anthropic API key in the UAIE settings of the relevant platform. The API key is:

• stored only on the user’s own device, by the storage mechanism appropriate to that platform (Section 3 above);
• used solely to make requests directly from the user’s device to the Anthropic API;
• never transmitted to, nor stored by, Fiza Pathan, Fiza Pathan Publishing (OPC) Private Limited, or any third party associated with UAIE.

The use of the Anthropic API is governed by Anthropic’s own Privacy Policy, available at anthropic.com/privacy. UAIE takes no responsibility for data processed by Anthropic once the user has initiated an API call using the user’s own key. Fiza Pathan Publishing (OPC) Private Limited neither earns, shares in, nor receives any part of the inference fee paid by the user to Anthropic.

5. Permissions explained

UAIE requests only those platform permissions that are strictly necessary for the accessibility features the user has chosen to invoke.

Browser extensions (Chrome, Edge, Firefox):

• storage — to save the user’s settings locally on the user’s device.
• activeTab — to read and process the content of the currently active tab when UAIE is activated.
• scripting — to inject the UAIE accessibility interface into the current webpage.
• <all_urls> — to allow UAIE to function on any website the user chooses to use it on.

Native Android application:

• Accessibility Service — to intercept selected text from any application at the user’s explicit request.
• System Alert Window — to draw the floating UAIE bubble over the user’s active application.
• Foreground Service — to keep the UAIE bubble available while the user switches between applications.
• Internet — used only when the user invokes Tier II with the user’s own API key.

Microsoft Word Add-in:

• ReadWriteDocument — to read the active document and to insert UAIE outputs (Braille, Plain Language, Sign Language, Reading-Support Font, and so on) into the document at the user’s request.
• AppDomains access to api.anthropic.com — used only when the user invokes Tier II with the user’s own API key.

WordPress integration:

• Operates entirely within the browser and requires no permissions beyond those implicit in normal web-page operation.

None of these permissions is used to collect, transmit, or store any personal data.

6. Children’s privacy

UAIE is designed in part to support students and learners of all ages, including children. Because UAIE collects no personal data whatsoever, it is safe for children to use. No data subject to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the United Kingdom Age-Appropriate Design Code, India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, or equivalent legislation is collected.

7. Third-party services and open-source components

UAIE uses the following third-party service solely at the user’s explicit request:

• Anthropic API — optional, for the advanced Plain Language and Multiple Intelligences features; activated only when the user enters the user’s own API key and initiates a request (see Section 4).

UAIE does not integrate with any advertising network, analytics platform, or social-media service of any kind.

UAIE integrates the following open-source components under their respective licences: liblouis (LGPL v2.1) for Braille translation; the OpenDyslexic font (Open Font Licence); the W3C Web Speech API and Web Audio API (open W3C standards) for text-to-speech and sound; the DAISY 2.02 specification (DAISY Consortium open standard) for structured talking-book navigation; the SpreadTheSign BSL and ASL dictionaries (European Sign Language Centre, Sweden, open educational resource) and the ISLRTC ISL dictionary (Government of India, open educational resource) for sign-language lookup; and WordPress (GPL v2.0) for the portfolio integration.

8. Changes to this policy

Any future update to this Privacy Policy will be published at the same URL and reflected in an updated effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of UAIE after an update constitutes the user’s acceptance of the revised Policy. Material updates will be recorded in a short change-log at the foot of this page.

Governing the use of the Universal Adaptive Interface Engine and the UDIL™ framework.

Preamble

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the “User”) and Fiza Pathan Publishing (OPC) Private Limited (“the Company”), a for-profit One Person Company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013, of the Republic of India, bearing Corporate Identification Number U22200MH2016OPC280629, with its registered office at Flat No. 2, Symbol Apartments, Tertulian Road, off Dr Peter Dias Road, Bandra West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400050, India.

These Terms govern the User’s access to and use of the Universal Adaptive Interface Engine (“UAIE”) and any associated products, services, or platforms made available by the Company. The Non-Charitable Clarification issued by the Company on 22 April 2026, and published as the closing element of Section 7 of the UAIE Announcement on the Company’s teaching portfolio, forms part of these Terms and is incorporated herein by reference; in the event of any inconsistency between these Terms and the Non-Charitable Clarification, the Non-Charitable Clarification shall prevail.

By installing, accessing, or using UAIE in any form, the User acknowledges that the User has read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms. If the User does not agree to these Terms, the User must not install, access, or use UAIE.

1. Definitions

In these Terms:

• “Company” means Fiza Pathan Publishing (OPC) Private Limited, together with its successors, authorised representatives, and permitted assigns.
• “Inventor” means Ms Fiza Iqbal Pathan, sole shareholder-director of the Company and the natural person in whom the underlying intellectual property of UAIE and UDIL vests.
• “UAIE” means the Universal Adaptive Interface Engine, a cross-platform accessibility system comprising the products listed in Clause 2 of these Terms, together with any successor, derivative, or upgrade released by the Company from time to time.
• “UDIL” means the Universal Design for Inclusive Learning framework originated by the Inventor, comprising the three axioms of relocation, learner sovereignty, and unconditional provision.
• “User” means any natural or legal person who installs, accesses, or uses UAIE in any form.
• “Institutional User” means a school, university, educational trust, or other body corporate that has entered, or wishes to enter, into a Premium licence with the Company.
• “API Key” means a credential issued by Anthropic, PBC, or any other artificial-intelligence inference provider supported by the Company, enabling the User to authenticate to and invoke that provider’s inference API.
• “Non-Charitable Clarification” means the statement of commercial status issued by the Company on 22 April 2026 and published as the closing element of Section 7 of the UAIE Announcement.

2. Description of the Service

UAIE is an accessibility and cognitive-load-adaptation engine deployed across the platform families listed in Part I, Section 1 of this page. Each product implements a subset of UAIE’s seven pillars: text-to-speech, Grade 2 Unified English Braille generation, Plain Language transformation at levels L1 to L6, visual adjustments, sign-language lookup, cognitive load indication, and Multiple Intelligences reformatting. The precise feature set of each product is described in the relevant store listing and in the UAIE Announcement.

3. The tier structure

UAIE is provided to the User under a three-tier commercial structure.

Tier I · Free Tier. Every feature of UAIE that does not require an external artificial-intelligence inference call is provided to every User, individual or institutional, in perpetuity, without registration, without payment, and without any form of data collection. This constitutes a commercial grant extended by the Company at its sole discretion and is revocable in accordance with Clause 17. The Free Tier is not a donation, a charitable gift, or a public good in any legal sense.

Tier II · Bring-Your-Own-API-Key Tier. The Plain Language transformer at levels L3 to L6 and the Multiple Intelligences reformatter at levels L3 to L6 require invocation of the Anthropic Claude API or any successor provider nominated by the Company. The User obtains an API Key directly from the provider, stores it locally on the User’s own device, and pays the inference cost directly to the provider at the provider’s then-current rate. The Company neither stores the API Key nor receives any part of the inference fee.

Tier III · UAIE Premium (in specification). A white-labelled, server-side implementation of the higher levels of the Plain Language transformer and the Multiple Intelligences reformatter, together with institutional administration features, offered to Institutional Users on a per-student annual licence basis under a separate written agreement with the Company. The end-student pays nothing. Institutional licences are subject to Clause 8 of these Terms.

The Equity Programme. Institutional Users that declare, on institutional letterhead and in the form prescribed by the Company, that they serve underprivileged learners may apply for a discretionary commercial concession by which the Premium licence fee is waived in whole or in part. The Equity Programme is a commercial concession granted at the Company’s sole discretion, and not a charitable programme; it is governed by the Non-Charitable Clarification and by Clause 9 of these Terms.

4. Eligibility and consent

UAIE is designed for, and made available to, learners of all ages. A User who is a minor under the law of the User’s country of residence represents and warrants that the User’s parent, legal guardian, or educational institution has reviewed and consented to these Terms on the User’s behalf and to the User’s use of UAIE. The parent, legal guardian, or educational institution so consenting assumes, for the purposes of these Terms, all obligations of the User. Institutional Users warrant that the natural person agreeing to these Terms on the Institutional User’s behalf is duly authorised to bind the Institutional User.

5. Licence grant

Subject to the User’s continuing compliance with these Terms, the Company grants the User a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sub-licensable, revocable licence to install and use UAIE in the tiers that the User is entitled to access, solely for the User’s lawful accessibility and learning purposes. The licence is personal to the User. No User acquires any vested right, licence in perpetuity, or contractual entitlement by virtue of using UAIE, save to the extent that a separate written agreement executed by the Company expressly so provides. All rights not expressly granted to the User under these Terms are reserved to the Company and to the Inventor.

6. User obligations and acceptable use

The User undertakes that, in using UAIE, the User shall:

• use UAIE only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all laws applicable to the User;
• not reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of any part of UAIE that is provided only in compiled or minified form, save to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
• not remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trade mark, patent, or other proprietary notice contained in or displayed by UAIE;
• not use UAIE to process content that the User does not have the lawful right to process;
• not use UAIE, or permit UAIE to be used, to generate, propagate, or facilitate any content that is unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, or infringing of the rights of any third party;
• not scrape, resell, sub-licence, or redistribute UAIE or any component thereof, save under a separate written agreement with the Company;
• not use UAIE to develop, train, or evaluate any competing or substantially similar product;
• not bypass, circumvent, or attempt to bypass any tier limitation, access control, or technical protection measure within UAIE.

Breach of this Clause 6 entitles the Company to suspend or terminate the User’s access to UAIE in accordance with Clause 17.

7. The Bring-Your-Own-API-Key Tier

Where the User elects to use Tier II, the following provisions apply. (a) The User is solely responsible for obtaining, maintaining, and paying for an API Key with Anthropic, PBC, or such other provider as the Company may from time to time support. The User’s relationship with the provider is governed by the provider’s own terms of service and privacy policy, to which the Company is not a party. (b) The API Key is stored by UAIE in the local storage of the User’s device as described in Part I, Section 3 of this page. The Company’s servers neither receive, transmit, relay, nor store the API Key or the content processed under the API Key at any time. (c) The User acknowledges that Tier II invokes a third-party inference API and that the content submitted to that API, and any response received, is processed in accordance with the provider’s terms. The User must not submit through Tier II any content whose submission would violate any law applicable to the User, to the provider, or to the subject of the content. (d) The Company makes no representation, warranty, or guarantee as to the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any output produced by the third-party inference provider. Outputs are produced by the provider’s model, are probabilistic in nature, and must be reviewed by the User before being relied upon. (e) The Company may, at its sole discretion, alter, suspend, or withdraw Tier II, or substitute the supported inference provider, without notice, and the User agrees that the Company has no liability to the User arising from any such alteration, suspension, or withdrawal.

8. UAIE Premium (institutional)

UAIE Premium is offered to Institutional Users under a separate written agreement with the Company. The Institutional User shall apply to the Company by written request on institutional letterhead, specifying the institution’s identity, address, registration details, enrolment numbers, and the scope of the proposed deployment. The Company reserves the right to require such supporting information as it in good faith considers necessary, including but not limited to the Institutional User’s most recent audited accounts.

The Company will assess each application on its merits. Approval is granted at the Company’s sole discretion and takes effect only upon the Institutional User’s execution of the separate written agreement. The Company reserves the right to decline any application, or to revoke any approval already granted, in accordance with the terms of the separate written agreement. Until such time as the Company publishes the UAIE Premium licensing schedule, the terms applicable to UAIE Premium are those set out in the institutional brochure and licensing schedule made available by the Company to the particular Institutional User upon application.

9. The Equity Programme

The Equity Programme is a discretionary commercial concession by which the Company may, at its sole discretion, waive the Premium licence fee in whole or in part for an Institutional User that the Company considers to be serving underprivileged learners. The Equity Programme is governed by the Non-Charitable Clarification and by the institutional brochure and licensing schedule referred to in Clause 8.

Application for the Equity Programme shall be made on institutional letterhead, signed by the head of institution, and accompanied by the Institutional User’s most recent audited accounts and such supporting information as the Company may require. Approval, if granted, is a limited commercial licence extended at the Company’s sole discretion; it does not confer on the Institutional User any entitlement in perpetuity, any transferable right, or any ground for legal claim against the Company. The Company reserves the right to revoke any Equity Programme grant at any time, for any cause that it in good faith considers sufficient.

10. Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights in UAIE, in the UDIL framework, in the Company’s teaching portfolio, and in all related source code, documentation, marketing materials, trade dress, and visual identity are vested in or exclusively licensed to the Company by the Inventor, and are protected by copyright, trade mark, patent, and contract law.

The following registered rights apply: trade mark applications 7653558, 7653559, 7653575, and 7653576 filed at the Indian Trade Marks Registry; a patent application for the invention titled “A System and Method for Adaptive Multi-Modal Transformation and Presentation” in preparation at the Indian Patent Office, with the intention of onward filing under the Patent Cooperation Treaty; and copyright subsisting in all source code and documentation from the date of creation. The User acquires no right, title, or interest in or to any of the foregoing, save the limited licence granted under Clause 5.

The User retains ownership of any document, image, or other content that the User chooses to process through UAIE. UAIE is designed to operate principally on the User’s own device, without uploading the User’s content to the Company’s servers; accordingly, the Company does not claim any right in, to, or over the User’s content by virtue of the User’s use of UAIE.

11. Third-party components and services

UAIE integrates the third-party components and services listed in Part I, Section 7 of this page, each of which is subject to its own licence. The User’s installation of UAIE through a platform store — including the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Mozilla AMO, the Amazon Appstore, the Google Play Store, and, from release, Microsoft AppSource — is additionally subject to the terms of service of the relevant store. In the event of any inconsistency between the relevant store’s terms and these Terms, the relevant store’s terms shall prevail in respect of matters properly within the store’s purview, and these Terms shall prevail in all other respects.

12. Privacy

The Company’s privacy posture is set out in full at Part I of this page. By using UAIE, the User confirms that the User has read and understood that policy.

13. Accessibility commitments

The Company and the Inventor make the following accessibility commitments in respect of UAIE and the teaching portfolio:

• UAIE substantially conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium, recognised under ISO/IEC 40500:2025, as described in the Company’s Accessibility Statement;
• UAIE is designed to implement the three axioms of UDIL — relocation, learner sovereignty, and unconditional provision — as pedagogical and ethical principles of design.

The commitments in this Clause are design commitments undertaken by the Inventor and the Company. They are not, and shall not be construed as, contractual undertakings enforceable at the suit of any User or third party. A User who considers that UAIE has failed to meet the accessibility standard set out above is invited to report the failure in writing to the Company, which will investigate the report in good faith and respond in due course.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, UAIE is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. The Company expressly disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, continuous availability, or absence of error or malfunction.

Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, the Company does not warrant that UAIE will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or free of bugs, viruses, or harmful components; that the outputs of any pillar of UAIE will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose; that UAIE is a substitute for professional educational assessment, medical advice, legal advice, or certified accessibility services; or that UAIE will continue to be made available in the form in which it is offered as at the date of these Terms, or at all. The User acknowledges that UAIE is a best-effort educational accessibility tool and that reliance on UAIE’s outputs for safety-critical, life-critical, or legally binding purposes is at the User’s own risk.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, and notwithstanding any other provision of these Terms: (a) the Company shall not be liable to the User for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damage, including any loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill, or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with the User’s use of UAIE, even if the Company has been advised of the possibility of such damage; and (b) the Company’s aggregate liability to the User, under all heads combined and in respect of all causes of action however arising, shall not exceed the greater of (i) the total amount actually paid by the User to the Company under these Terms in the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the liability, or (ii) Indian Rupees one thousand (INR 1,000), which sum is accepted by the User as a reasonable pre-estimate of the Company’s maximum exposure, given that the Free Tier and the Bring-Your-Own-API-Key Tier are provided without payment to the Company. Nothing in this Clause excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including any liability arising from the Company’s gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or fraud.

16. Indemnification

The User shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Company, the Inventor, and each of their respective authorised representatives, agents, and successors from and against any and all claim, demand, action, proceeding, loss, damage, cost, and expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) the User’s breach of any provision of these Terms; (b) the User’s violation of any law or of any right of a third party; (c) any content submitted or processed by the User through UAIE; or (d) the User’s negligent, reckless, or wilful act or omission.

17. Suspension and termination

The Company may, at its sole discretion and without prior notice, suspend or terminate the User’s access to UAIE, in whole or in part, if: (a) the Company in good faith considers that the User has breached these Terms or is about to do so; (b) the Company is required to do so by order of any court, regulator, or other lawful authority; (c) the Company decides, for any reason, to alter, suspend, or withdraw UAIE, the tier under which the User accesses UAIE, or any feature thereof; or (d) the Company revokes the commercial grant under which the User accesses UAIE.

The User may terminate the User’s own use of UAIE at any time by uninstalling UAIE from the User’s device. Clauses 10 (Intellectual Property), 14 (Disclaimer of Warranties), 15 (Limitation of Liability), 16 (Indemnification), and 19 (Governing Law and Dispute Resolution) shall survive any termination of these Terms.

18. Changes to these Terms

The Company may from time to time amend these Terms. Material amendments shall take effect on the later of (i) the date of publication of the amended Terms on this page and (ii) the effective date specified in the amended Terms, provided that a material amendment shall not apply to any Equity Programme grant already made or to any separate written agreement between the Company and an Institutional User, save to the extent the separate written agreement expressly so provides. The User’s continued use of UAIE after the effective date of an amendment constitutes the User’s acceptance of the amended Terms. If the User does not accept an amendment, the User must cease using UAIE.

19. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to principles of conflict of laws. Subject to the arbitration provision below, the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any suit, action, or proceeding arising out of or in connection with these Terms.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms that cannot be resolved by good-faith negotiation within thirty days shall, at the election of the Company, be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration in Mumbai under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The tribunal shall consist of a sole arbitrator appointed by mutual agreement or, failing agreement, by the competent authority under the said Act. The language of the arbitration shall be English.

20. Miscellaneous

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

No waiver. A failure or delay by the Company in exercising any right or remedy under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or remedy.

Assignment. The User may not assign or transfer the User’s rights under these Terms without the prior written consent of the Company. The Company may assign its rights under these Terms to any successor-in-interest or affiliate.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Non-Charitable Clarification and, in the case of Institutional Users, the separate written agreement referred to in Clause 8, constitute the entire agreement between the Company and the User in respect of UAIE and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, whether oral or written.

Notices. Notices to the Company must be given in writing using the contact details in Part IV · Contact.

21. Signatory

These Terms are issued and signed on behalf of the Company on the twenty-second day of April, two thousand and twenty-six, at Mumbai.

Ms Fiza Iqbal Pathan, sole shareholder-director of Fiza Pathan Publishing (OPC) Private Limited, Mumbai, inventor of UAIE™, and author of UDIL™.

• UAIE™ — An Announcement Grounded in the Pedagogy of UDIL — the inventor’s full published account of UAIE, the UDIL framework, the seven pillars, the WCAG 2.2 AA conformance declaration, and the Non-Charitable Clarification (embedded as the closing element of Section 7 of that Announcement).
